Christopher's Community was established to assist families in Tampa Bay
who have children with muscular dystrophy. We provide
financial support, helping to alleviate some of the burden families
feel when their needs go beyond what insurance or other organizations
provide. Christopher’s Community’s proceeds fund home and
vehicle modifications, enhancing accessibility and independence so that
families may focus on loving and caring for their children.
We formed this foundation
in honor of our friend’s son, Christopher,
who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. We
witnessed the struggle his family went through trying to obtain
assistance for the many non-covered expenses involved in his care.
After our first fundraiser, “Fall
Into Margaritaville” in September 2005, we were able to help
Christopher’s family purchase a ceiling-track lift system and pool
lift. Our goal is to reach many other families in the Tampa Bay area in
the coming years.
